SAFERsleep Maternity

SAFERsleep Maternity brings the safety features of SAFERsleep OR to the delivery suite. Anaesthetists record labour epidurals, spinals and other blocks as they happen, with the same drug allergy and medical alert checks they use in theatre.

Each delivery suite has its own profile, so the drugs, events and block options match how that unit works. From the same record, SAFERsleep prints the insertion record, the patient’s information letter and the epidural prescription, ready for the midwifery team.

If the mother later goes to theatre, her assessment and block details carry straight into SAFERsleep OR. Patients with an epidural or PCA are referred to the Acute Pain team automatically, so follow-up rounds start with the full record.

One record, wherever the mother goes

Delivery suite: SAFERsleep MaternityAssessment, allergy checks, epidural or spinal insertion, labour epidural or PCA prescription.

Theatre, if needed: SAFERsleep ORAssessment and active block details are offered into the new anaesthetic record for 48 hours.

Follow-up: SAFERsleep Acute PainMothers with an epidural, spinal or PCA appear on the pain team’s list, marked as maternity patients.

Drug allergy alerts

Allergies and medical alerts come from the hospital’s systems or are entered at the start of the episode. Every drug is checked when it is selected, and again every 30 seconds, so an allergy added later still raises an alert.

Epidurals, spinals and blocks

Record consent, technique, approach, loss of resistance, needle, attempts and complications in a few taps, along with every drug given through the block.

Labour epidural and PCA prescriptions

Prescribe a labour epidural or PCA from the delivery suite profile and print the prescription chart for the midwifery team.

Key events at a tap

One-touch buttons for procedure start, cannulation and block checks, with event times recorded and an event summary for the whole episode.

Clinical team and templates

The logged-in anaesthetist is added to the clinical team automatically. A delivery suite template fills in a standard labour epidural case, for one screen or the whole episode.

Safe by default

Park an episode and pick it up later, recover the last episode after a restart, and auto-logout after inactivity. Cases can also be reported to webAIRS.

Printed records, ready for the ward

SAFERsleep Maternity produces the paperwork the delivery suite needs from the same record, so nothing is written out twice.

Records share the allergy and patient label layout used by SAFERsleep OR, so midwives and theatre staff see information in a familiar place.
